Easter

The narrative of Easter in the Bible is an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish (Luke chapters 12-19.) We see Jesus himself experience this as He does God's work through love, fear, joy, tenderness, and anger. However, He always works for the same goal: to bring salvation to us through his own death.

The people around Jesus during this time are far less consistent. There is a welcoming crowd as He enters Jerusalem, glorifying Him and hailing him as king. Somehow, by the time Pilate offers them the choice to crucify Jesus, the people become murderous and call for Jesus's blood. Naturally, even individuals who loved Jesus dearly struggled with fear, doubt, and anger during this time.

The ups and downs that emotion bring are a real part of life, but sometimes they can distract us from serving God. No one is exempt from the sea of emotion as we go through the hardships of life, but we must also look to the example Jesus set for us, and be steadfast. We can't waver from our goal of serving Christ if we want to reach our reward in Heaven, no matter the immediate circumstances around us.
